Labeling Theory In Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile delinquency is nothing new, it has been around for many years and provides endless studies and data for the researchers. Conducting studies on juveniles requires the researchers to take a variety of risk factors into account. There are many factors that can contribute to an adolescent misbehavior such as race, friends, where they live, social status and also economic status. Once the juvenile has started to take part in this mischievous activity the question is, “What keeps these kids engaged in this irregular, troubled behavior?” Many juveniles have their own reasons, but some common factors include not getting caught and being labeled as a delinquent, just like in “The Outsiders” with the “Greasers”.
The movie “The Outsiders” showed that being on the higher part of the economic totem pole did not keep you from taking part in criminal activity, but it definitely did help the “Soc's” avoid getting in trouble. Being labeled a “Soc”...
