Chemical Reactions Lab
Introduction:
The five indications that a chemical reaction occurred are color changes, precipitate formation, gas formation, change in odor, and transfer of energy. The five types of chemical reactions are combination reactions, decomposition reactions, combustion reactions, single-displacement reactions, and double-displacement reaction. Synthesis/Combination reactions occur when two separate simple substances join together into one substance. Decomposition reactions occur when a complex substance separates into simple substances. In single replacements/displacement reactions, one single element takes the place of an element in a compound. In double-replacement reactions, the cation of a compound switches with the cation of the other compound as the anion of one switches with the anion of the other. In single replacements/displacement reactions, whether an element and monatomic ion gained or lost electrons...
