CW 2 – Open Topic
I do not watch the media too often, but it is nearly impossible not to see election propaganda being disseminated throughout the news, radio, and television among other places. I find it amusing the ways in which different news topic can almost unambiguously scream being pro-republican or pro-democratic material. It is extremely hard to find unbiased news nowadays. So far, the only unbiased source of information I’ve found is Al-Jazeera. Despite it sounding to the average American like a terrorist organization, Al-Jazeera is a reputable news source that does straight reporting with only facts – no bias. If a representative democracy like America is to work effectively, I think that it’s vital we have at least one easily accessible unbiased source of news so people are forced to draw their own opinions about different situations. A little research goes a long way.
Critical Writing 4 – Founding Fathers
America’s founding fathers would, for the most part, be largely pleased with how well America has risen to become the most powerful nation on Earth. However, there are more than a few reasons as to why they would disagree on a vast amount of the ways the government and political system operates. It can be largely agreed upon that America is a two party system. In class, we discussed a lot of the trials and tribulations our founding fathers had to go through to do things like frame the constitution – not one, but two versions of which were made. Their previous experiences helped a lot while writing the constitution. Benjamin Franklin was of the founding fathers of the USA. He was an extremely talented person with diverse skills including being an author and printer, scientist, civic activist, diplomat and statesman.
