Freedom of expression and associational rights are important rights accorded to citizens by the U.S. Constitution in the First Amendment and the Bill of Rights. According to the First Amendment it states that “ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” The Texas Constitution has a similar provision that ensures similar rights.
