Abstract
The article “Body Ritual among the Nacirema: seems to relate close to home. These taboo rituals or acts Miner speaks of, are closely related to what goes on in America’s culture today. He relates many different things from limiting intercourse to certain phases of the moon and medicine men to birth control and Doctors. Miner also speaks of other things from modern days such as Pharmacists, Dentists, sinks, hospitals, and brushing your teeth. The way Miner described these rituals was harder for me to understand what they were referring to, but easily compared to things we do in today’s age. Some rituals have evolved or slightly been adjusted but the traditions remain the same. Writing Assignment One
While reading the article “Body Ritual among the Nacirema” it was hard for me to follow the rituals being described for the tribe Nacirema, as the way they were being explained was difficult to understand. Many of the things or rituals we do in current day, have evolved and expanded, but seem to compare to those being described in the article by the Nacirema.
