Health status many factors that will impact it, with one of the major ones being class. Class, within the social setting, is the concept that there is a hierarchical set up within social sciences and political theories that classify people into certain groups, most common are lower middle and upper.

This hierarchical concept of class, contains lower middle and upper classes, which have many differentiating factors. These factors will play huge affect on the outcome of the health status of that population. Health status; a holistic concept that is determined by more than the presence or absence of any disease. It is often summarised by life expectancy or self assessed health status, and more broadly includes measures of functioning, physical illness and mental well being (AIHW, 2013)

Health status is a vast umbrella term, it is expected that there will be vast amounts of underlying factors that play importance within it. Within class, there are multiple facts that have massive affect on the populations overall health status. There factors include, but are not limited to; Socioeconomic status(SES), education, behaviour and stressors.

SES, a sociological and economical measure of a families or individuals position in a social standing, as well as their work experience, play a major factor in class. SES plays such a major factor, that both SES and class are even categorised similarly with lower, middle and upper classes.

SES has many differentiating factors between its categories, using lower and upper class as examples due to their polar opposition, the factors become blatantly obvious. These major categories within SES are income, ones income has huge effect on their SES, with the lower end of the spectrum having substantially lower income as compared to those within the upper class. With this major difference in income come major differences in health status. An individual or family with a higher income, statistically are more likely to be; higher educated, located in more affluent areas which have much better access to increased health care, the health care itself is often of higher grade, they are able to afford private heath care, they are often able to understand health and risk factors of poor diet and exercise.
A person with a higher education, often tends to understand that their health has major effects on their life and that they have the overall control of it, therefor they must be proactive about keeping healthy. Their diets reflect this, with studies on showing the majority of fast fo...
