According to American Marketing Association "Advertising is any paid form of non-personal presentation and promotion of ideas, goods and services by an identified sponsor". With that being said, there are a multitude of reasons for advertising a product, but most importantly, advertisements are intended to persuade and inform. The modern world is crammed-up with advertisements everywhere. TV, radio, newspaper, magazines, and if that doesn’t do it all, brochures and online ads create needs and acknowledge our inner wants. With the right manipulation, play of words, use of emotions and a pinch of logic, advertisers earn the big bucks. We may turn the box off, shut the internet and pull ourselves away from newsstands around, but eventually, the advertisements remain and we ruminate. Whatever is the product, with a little change of syntax, all advertisers ensure with the heavy flow of money, rigidity and powerful emotional buying motives that the potential consumer’s purchasing decision is influenced and is in their favor. One such ad that is pertinent to the aforementioned statement is the Blue Pet Food advertisement that was in the Shape magazine in the May, 2014 issue.
