What is Green Tea?
Green tea is a type of tea that is solely made from the leaves of Camellia Sinensis. It is used as a beverage which have many health benefits as compared to other types of tea. Black & Oolong are the other forms of tea, which are also made from Camellia Sinensis. But, the benefits that you can gain from the tea, cannot be gained by other types of tea. Green Tea processing is different than others. Green Tea has the the highest concentration of powerful antioxidants called poly phenols and it composed of 4000 type of flavonoids and the highest among all is catechin. It is prepared with either steam heat or with dry heat immediately after harvesting prevent oxidant. Thereby, making Green Tea more healthy and full of nutrients. Whereas, to make black or Oolong tea, it is introduced to the method called oxidation, in which leaves are dried by a process commonly called “withering,” rolled or broken to induce oxidation, and then dried. Oxidation process removes the nutrients from the leaves. It was believed that, Chinese Emperor Shen Nung accidentally discovered Green Tea, when few leaves from nearby plant fell into the pot of water he was boiling to drink and it turns out with the invention of Green Tea. In 800 AD, this slimming tea was brought to Japan by Buddhist Monks. After that, it became the staple drink throughout the Asian countries. What Does Green Tea Taste Like?
