The book begins as the main character, Clay Jensen, mails a package to another person. In the beginning, we don't know what’s in the package but later find out that it contains the audio-taped suicide notes of Hannah Baker. In the package, there are a total of seven cassette tapes and thirteen stories. Each story is linked to a different person, so all the tapes get passed around through those thirteen different people who were each responsible for Hannah’s death. The story is revolved around Clay’s side of the story, and why he is on the tapes. In the first half, we still don't know...
