o Wealth index
o Level of education
▪ In 2011, about 53% of Canadians aged 15 and over had trade certificates, college diplomas and university degrees ▪ A higher percentage of women (72%) than men (65%) aged 25 to 44 years had completed a post-secondary education. (2011) ▪ 68% of those aged 25 to 44 years and 58% of those aged 45 to 64 years were post-secondary graduates. (2011) ▪ [pic]

o Note:
▪ “Post-secondary education” refers to college or university; ▪ College is equivalent to "prépa / classes prépa" or the two-year course after the baccalauréat at some "lycées"; ▪ University is equivalent to "Grandes écoles" or other university programs ▪ In Canada, the “baccalaureat” is the “high school diploma”; a “Bachelors” is the name of the first university degree • Psychographics

o Cultural trends and values
▪ Over 13.3 million people—accounting for 47% of Canadians aged 15 and over—did volunteer work in 2010. They devoted almost 2.07 billion hours to their volunteer activities: a volume of work that is equivalent to just under 1.1 million full-time jobs ▪ [pic]

▪ http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/11-008-x/2012001/t/11638/tbl01-eng.htm • Part of the reason that there is such a strong culture of volunteerism is related to the fact that high school students are required to complete a certain number of volunteer hours in order to graduate ▪ Another trend is related to commuting times to work & methods of transportation used. See Table 1 below. • There is a large effort by the Canadian government to encourage people to use public transport and reduce car travel. However, a large majority of Candian workers still use their cars. Based on a study by StatCan, we can see that a majority of car users consider public transportation to be inconvenient. See Figure 1 below. ▪

o Main societal and cultural

• http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/11-008-x/2011002/c-g/11531/fig001-eng.htm • Another trend is related to household debt in Canada. As reported by StatCan, “between 1984 and 2009, real average household debt for Canadians more than doubled from $46,000 to $110,000 (Chart 1)”. They also noted that as the interest rates decreased, the debt for average Canadian households seemed to increase as debt, for example mortgage debt, became more affordable. This growth of debt was accelerated in 2002. o [pic]

o http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/11-008-x/2011001/c-g/11430/c-g001-eng.htm ▪ And, finally the last trend is about working from home. The number of employees working at home in 2008 was 1,748,600, compared with 1,425,700 in 2000. This is a popular trend in Canada, and the ability to work from home is often one of the factors in accepting a job offer – be it just 1 day a week, but that flexibility is very key. Many workplaces, especially large ones, have this available to their employees. The reasons people like to work at home is for work-life balance, which is a rising trend in workplaces. • Values:
