Photosynthesis is the process which organisms can absorb energy from sunlight and use it to produce sugar, lipids, and proteins. The sugar that is collected is then used to give energy to the organism. Usually occurs in plants, and some protists, bacteria, and blue-green algae. (Bailey, 2014) Respiration is the process in living organisms of taking oxygen in from its surroundings into the tissues and cells. Then it gives out carbon dioxide and water. (Biology-Online, 2008)
