Unlike democratic rule, under totalitarianism, people have no right to speak, form political parties, or even choose their religion. Totalitarianism restricts what people think and their wants.Countries today that have a totalitarian government are:China,Cuba and Laos.The former Soviet Union was also a totalitarian government.
