Danger in the Government
When the framers constructed the United States constitution, they intended that no single branch have too much power. James Madison wrote in the Federalist Papers No. 51 that, in government, “Ambition must be made to counteract ambition”. Meaning, each branch should exercise a degree of power over another, as a means to prevent any single branch from abusing their powers. Each branch has distinct powers and responsibilities.
